Fine Dining
If you are looking for fine dining, you have a number of choices in and around Leavenworth. A lot of good cooking for such a small town.
The Mountain Home Lodge calls themselves the ultimate Leavenworth dining experience, and they may be right. They have excellent reviews from some big players and the setting, high in the mountains above Leavenworth looks spectacular. There are only 10 tables available, and the menu includes fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Cabins, suites and a variety of rooms are available at the lodge. They also host weddings. Looks like a remarkable place.
JJ Hill’s Restaurant is at Icicle Village Resort. It has a wide variety of offerings and a nice atmosphere in a lovely dining room. The restaurant is named for JJ Hill, who brought the railroad to Leavenworth, and with the railroad the lumber mills to make the ties and bridges needed. His Empire Builder train still runs from Chicago to Seattle, and just last September, it again made Leavenworth one of its stops. Coincidentally, JJ Hill also established the railroad yards in the Hillyard (Hill’s Yard) area of Spokane. And Spokane is where Mr. and Mrs. Accidental Bavarian live.
Visconti’s has become a recent favorite, especially with their lemon crab alfredo sauce pasta. Yum!
